Over 100 people gathered in support of Mothers That Care on Sunday April 10 for the first fun walk in aid of the organisation. Starting at the tourism offices at Blouberg Beachfront, participants walked down to the Blouberg sign and back, completing the approximately 5km route in high spirits. Table View Neighbourhood Watch were on hand to help with traffic and walkers in some of the bottle neck areas, and were greatly appreciated.

The race was held to generate much needed funds for the Mothers That Care group, who make sandwiches for hungry children in our area. Each day of the week, there are groups of moms who get together to make and distribute sandwiches to the various school. For some children this is their only food for the day. Each week approximately 2 000 sandwiches are made and distributed. And the need for more grows constantly.

Karen Oliveira, one of the founding members of Mothers That Care thanked the crowd, “We really do appreciate you coming out this morning to support us. The money we raise today will go towards buying ingredients for the sandwiches – the bread, and the fillings. We cannot thank you enough.”
