WELCOME to Mothers That Care
Every day thousands of South African children go to school hungry. Each day Mothers That Care volunteers try to stem that hunger by making and delivering sandwiches to school children in our community. For many this is ONLY meal they will have that day. Food insecurity is very real reality to too many children in South Africa and indeed in our own neighbourhoods. Too many children have no idea where their next meal is coming from, or when. Mothers That Care has been actively working in the local neighbourhood for going on 8 years, making over 3 000 sandwiches a week and helping out in 10 different schools, crèches, and old age homes. And yet the number of sandwiches is just not enough to quell the hunger.
In addition to feeding the children, Mothers That Care volunteers also work tirelessly in knitting and crocheting blankets and beanies to help keep the Cape cold away. Knitted squares are made into blankets and soft toys are added to the bundle to each child has something to call their own.
Mothers That Care oversee, and are a part of various projects that support and uplift members of our local communities, including Joe Slovo, Dunoon, Ysterplaat, Vissershoek, Milnerton, Table View, Observatory, Woodstock, Factreton, Fisantekraal, Blouberg, Sunset Beach, Sunningdale, Melkbos and West Beach.
